I decided to take the Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant qualification as it was on Groupon for £15. I'm very glad I didn't spend any more money on it than that, as it's a scam. I probably should have done a little more research, but it's too late now 😆 The course isn't even a recognised qualification here in the UK. The way the course material is set out isn't very user friendly. They have just copied and pasted pages and pages of info from a book on teaching methodologies, with no bullet points, clarification for which parts are actually useful for the exam and no real guidance. They have also used the term "mental retardation". This term hasn't been used in the UK for decades and is seen as offensive, derogatory and outdated. If I used that term in a job interview, I'd never get accepted! Plus the test at the end is only 40 multiple choice questions, of which you only need to answer 60% correctly to pass and you get to do the exam three times in case you don't pass the first time! Pretty much anyone could pass that. If that doesn't say scam, I don't know what does! Please don't bother.
