This firm took a booking from me for March 2020 with payment upfront. They cancelled the booking due to coronavirus (fair enough) and then called in early April to offer me a credit which I didn’t want. After a lot of persuasion, they offered me a refund but only for 90% of my money. I thought this was bad practice but decided to agree in order to get the majority of my money back.
I then hear nothing for 5/6 weeks with no money being returned to my card even though my account showed it had been refunded on their website.
I called then on 7 May to ask where my refund is and am told that this has been rescinded and I will now to have wait until after 30 April 2021 to even request a refund.
How can this even be legal never mind moral?! If I booked a holiday with them, they wouldn’t expect it to be 12 months before I paid them so why is it the other way around?
They won’t have paid for the hotel room themselves (this is standard practice in this industry) so holding onto customers money is simply fraud.
I would strongly avoid at all costs.
