Absolutely awful for tradespeople. No care or recognition for the people that actually keep this business afloat. Emailed to cancel my membership as was 3 months after the expiry of my original 12 month agreement to be told it had been automatically renewed for a further 12 months. Was told I was in contract still and I would be expected to make payments or clear my entire balance. Staff are clearly trained to read off a script that contracts are business to business based and not business to consumer which is an awful practice against sole traders. As a tradesperson you have absolutely no leg to stand on with them and they simply bully and threaten with legal letters from their solicitors. You cannot even argue the fact that you may not get any work form it and that it isn't fit for purpose, they simply turn around and say "that's your fault, nothing we've done". I was told multiple times by the membership team today "there is nothing we can do regarding your membership and you will have to continue to pay it". I am telling all of my customers to never support companies such as Checkatrade with enquiries and will never use them again across any of my businesses.
