Absolute farce. Tradesman was not properly insured, created damage to my property, accepted liability at first but then backed out and refused. Because the tradesman was appointed by my neighbour (damage to my property was caused while work was executed on neighbouring property) Checkatrade would not accept a complaint from me despite clear evidence of how, when and by whom the damage was caused. Checkatrade simply wanted to sweep the matter under the carpet. All communications with their customer service was a waste of time - cookie cutter 'not our fault / cant help' responses. Will never use or recommend.
