We booked a floorer with amazing pictures online, claiming to own a flooring shop but only 3 reviews , who spent 9 hours at property doing lounge laminate and refused to do edging around fireplace , curved window and at doorway despite pre agreed work . Insisted that a simple plastic sheet was the right underlay . Just dreadful , I should have thrown them out . I told them to send a carpenter to finish the job and paid 50 % in good faith but mainly as I was afraid I’d get a brick through the window otherwise , they left all their rubbish in a pile outside my front door . Whilst there are amazing workman on checkatrade it is also a platform for rogue traders . I know many elderly people who have been scammed and are afraid to claim . Verified tradesmen doesn’t mean they don’t send inverified workmen with no skills .
