I've had my domain name with Easyspace for years, and no complaints there... however, a security package was added, apparently by me on the dashboard, which is possible... but I don't remember doing it, and I don't want or need it.
It was on auto-renew and it has just renewed. When I saw the amount on my bank statement I called to query the amount, which was more than I expected. When it was explained to me that I had selected this security package on the dashboard a few years ago, I said it was a mistake and I wanted to cancel it immediately and have full a refund... please.
I was then told that this would not be possible as I'd already paid EVEN THOUGH THE NEW SUBSCRIPTION HADN'T STARTED YET! (that was 3 weeks away)
This can't be legal... I asked, who regulates Easyspace, ie. who do I complain and report Easyspace to, and was told that nobody regulates them.
I'm not very technical and I made a mistake... they collected my money for the previous 2 years, and when I saw my mistake and tried to correct it I was told it was too late... I don't believe that.
FYI - As a gesture of goodwill they offered me £15, which I accepted because, as they told me, there is nobody regulating them to complain to (assuming they told me the truth)... but I'm not happy... in fact, the opposite, obvs...
I just am posting this to get it out of my system, as it's my only outlet and as a warning to other Luddites like me to be careful what you click on... and which company you click with.
