I bought a speaker from HMV and it remained in its packaging until opened on my daughter's birthday 3 weeks later. Unfortunately it was faulty and I took it back to HMV in Douglas (29 days after purchase) where staff confirmed that it was indeed faulty. However, HMV Head Officer refused to authorize replacement or refund and stated that it was up to the customer to arrange repair through the manufacturer (Apple). The local Office of Fair Trading advised that it was up to HMV to arrange this as they had sold faulty goods. They still refused. I have now had much inconvenience with lengthy phone calls to Apple, who said they have had several HMV customers in this unfortunate position, together with having to drive to depots to pick up/deliver collection packaging etc. I complained to HMV by email but have yet to receive a response. Will use Amazon in future.
