arrived at Pendine Sands on Friday 22/10 around 8pm. We followed the contactless check in procedure and went straight to the caravan. It had a green sign up to indicate that it was safe to enter as it had received an enhanced clean. Below is a list of what we was greeted by as we entered the caravan
• ripped sofa
• cobwebs all around caravan
• a lot of dog hair in the carpet
• dirty cutlery & kitchen utensils
• carpet full of stains
• flys in caravan
• dust all over shelves,cupboards & glass cover on cooker
• sofa grubby looking & stains
• mould around seal of fridge
• dirty sheet on one of the beds
• other peoples clothes under bed
• other peoples food in cupboard
This is after I had received a phone call earlier that day to say that their cleaners was short staffed due to covid-19 sickness and my check in that was originally 5pm would now be 6pm.
We swept the floor with a brush and you can see in one of the pictures the amount of dog hair that came up was disgusting. The next morning we went to reception to complain, the manager came over and asked if we could give them a one hour window that day so they can come around and further clean the caravan. We agreed to this and arranged a time, a member of staff came around at the time agreed but could not see what the problem was when we showed him the issues. All he did was hoover the living area carpet with an under powered hoover and replace the dirty sheet with a new one, spent no longer than 15 minutes cleaning. The caravan was still just as dirty, this was still not the enhanced clean that the caravan was suppose to have had due to covid-19 . Carpet was still covered in dog hair, glass cover on cooker still covered in dust. We sprayed the bathroom floor with one of my own cleaning sprays, wipped it up and the amount of dirt on the tissue is vile.
We had to book other accommodation else where for the remainder of our holiday, as the hygiene standards at this site are very poor. The whole site looked run down, unkept and overgrown. Nothing like the pictures on the website. The caravan was no where near a reasonable level of hygiene and cleanliness for a family to stay in.
I have been offered me a 20% refund which I find insulting. I would avoid this site at all costs and book somewhere else if you want a relaxing holiday
