Booking the parking was easy, getting to the parking was easy, the carpark appeared to be secure enough, the buses to and from the carpark from the airport run regularly enough that a wait is not painful.
However, leaving the carpark at the end of my stay was a nightmare. I put my ticket into the barrier at the exit and it prompted me for payment, when I had already pre-booked and paid for my parking. So I reversed, and found a parking spot near the help room, which contained a telephone with a high level of noise interference. I called the helpline and after spending a few minutes on the phone, giving my name and my booking details, was informed that they could not find my booking on the system, which I thought was strange for a fully automated system.
The polite man on the other end of the phone said he would send someone round to check my booking information in person. After a wait of about 20 minutes during which time, no one showed up to check my booking, the phone rang and I was informed that my booking had been found and that I should drive to the barrier and they would manually raise the barrier for me.
This all started at roughly 2230 hrs after a long day with a 1hr drive home ahead of me. This glitch of an automated system ruined my experience of Aberdeen Long Stay parking, though the polite staff handled the situation relatively well. I trust system reliability will be improved and my next stay will be more straight-forward.
