Daren Law
A little over a month ago my daughter broke her key fob for a Volkswagen Jetta. After going to a dealership and the locksmith we decide to take advantage of the Ace hardware auto key replacement that they were advertising. Seems like a pretty good value so we tried the Dublin Virginia store first. My daughter went in alone she is 18 year old and the employee working the kiosk totally dismissed her to the point where she got frustrated and left the store. The Blacksburg Virginia store being about equal distance I decided that I would try this store and initially the service was good they did say they would have to order the key for the Volkswagen Jetta and it'll be in 7 to 10 days. After 2 weeks I started calling with varying degrees of customer service but all saying it hasn't came in yet will call you. Finally after nearly a month I called and after a while they said that the key had come in I didn't ask what day I was just glad to get some traction on this issue. After the manager started grinding the key he said that they shipped the wrong one and they were not able to help me he did Apologize gave me a refund but offered no solution for this problem. I understand one employee at one store having a bad day so this has been two separate locations 30 miles apart this may just be a systemic problem with Ace hardware or the automotive key replacement program may not be where it needs to be. In an event I will not be patronizing Ace hardware anytime soon.
