Prepare yourself for the most ridiculous story, Asda original. DO NOT BOOK ASDA DELIVERY!
I booked a delivery on the 17th March for a delivery to be made on 6th April 2020. I waited a whole 3 and a half weeks for my order and never received it. Myself and my family members have severe respiratory problems so have had to rely on deliveries during this pandemic.
So the story is as follows. On the day of delivery, I received a text at at 19:38 to say my delivery has arrived. I was delighted as my delivery wasn’t due to be made until 9pm-11pm, so myself and 3 family members went outside with bags ready to collect our shopping. He wasn’t there. We circled the block to look for him incase he’d gotten lost but we couldn’t find him. So I called him, he didn’t pick up, and I texted him and he didn’t reply. So I thought it might have been a mistake and that he would deliver within the time frame given.
I waited until 11pm and thought it strange that he hadn’t shown up so I checked the online delivery status which says it was delivered. Being so late, customer service was closed so I decided to give the delivery driver another call, but it kept saying user busy which meant he had blocked my number. So I called on withheld number and he answered with “arghhh yes what?!?!”
I asked him politely if he was the asda delivery man and he said that his ‘friend’ had borrowed his phone to make the text. So I asked him nicely to contact his friend because my has had very little food and we were relying on the order so that we could eat. He told me he thinks his friend made the delivery and left it in the lobby... we don’t have a lobby. He told me I should call customer service and I explained to him it was closed and if he could help me I would be very grateful. He THEN told me I should send him a text with my name and address and he would go to work on the morning to issue me a refund. IF he wasn’t the delivery driver, WHY would he have that power?!?!
So I called customer service this morning and spoke to a woman named Roselyn. She told me she had to investigate before she could decide what to do. She calls me 5 minutes later telling me the delivery guy was a temp and she finds what happened very strange and she would issue me with a refund because Asda cannot offer me another slot.
I then asked if I can file an official complaint and she said about what. Honestly, I don’t know if she was listening but I thought it obvious. She told me talking to her is as far as the official complaint goes and she can’t do anything further to help. She was very rude and her tone was very condescending, she isn’t fit for customer service. I told her I suspect something dodgy is going on and her delivery driver might be pinching deliveries to which she told me that would not be the case and that the food would be taken back to Asda and disposed of. I then asked her then would that mean your driver was dishonest? Because he marked the order as delivered, to which she replied they’ll ‘investigate’.
I will never ever order from Asda ever again, and I urge you all not to use them, use their competitors, unless you want to wait weeks to have your order disappear.
