Awful experience from start to finish. I could write a dissertation on my experience it was that bad and i can evidence all of this. In a very short brief description what was bad about my experinence......and these are a few examples. 1, the price of the work- the initial quote was reasonable but then there are "add ons".....if you use other conveyancers I have found out these "add ons" are including in the price. I paid over 4k for the privilege. 2. You feel threatened throughout the whole process of losing the sale if you do not do x y and z. 3. My conveyancer did not have my best intererests at heart and completely ignored my instructions. For example - i purchased a house from an executor- I said from the outset to the estate agent that there is no pressure from me to rush the sale through but i would move as quickly as possible. So our conveyancer asked the usual enquiries and after some time we had no response. Our conveyancer then wrote to me and on the same day we had a call that he requested. In a nutshell as we had received no response he advised we proceed with the purchase with something called buyer beware as the executor had not responded. I said to the conveyancer that i would get back to him to ask my partner (we were given i believe 14 days to respond and if we didnt the assumption would be to move forward with the purchase without getting responses to our questions) The next day to my absolute shock and horror i received an email saying congratulations etc on the purchase etc . I was absolutely livid because at no point did i instruct this and what was worse is that i have an email i sent to the conveyancer the night before to say i would speak to me partner and let him know! I immediately phoned him, he was rude and never apologised. Within a few days we had the responses from the executors solicitor and it happened we did not need an insurance policy our conveyancer recommened! He was very impatient. Maybe bonuses are paid to complete at a certain time? 4. My conveyancer lied- he lied because when i contacted the estate agent re the above apologising for my conveyancers above mistake, the estate agent said that my conveyancer passed this off as an auto email!!!!! He blatantly lied as he was called out. In my email to the estate agent i went on to say that the only reason i did not bin off the conveyancer was because that would delay the whole process and possibly lose me the purchase. As i said at the beginning i could write a dissertation but i am so drained by this experience i literally do not have the energy but felt it the correct thing to do to share my experiences now and when i do have the energy will be contacting the Ombusman as there is alot more to say and report!
