My ex walked out on me, taking my daughter, in October 2020. For over 3 years I have tried to have my name removed from the joint account, including visiting their branch in Shenfield, Essex, in 2021. Divorce confirmed in October 2022. As a result of constant texts about the overdraft on this account, which I have not accessed since June 2020, I raised a complaint. They claimed to have investigated it, sent an outcome letter to an address I neither provided to them nor live at, and claimed to have no record of me requesting to be removed from the account. They also claimed to have tried to send a letter by email but did not have my correct email address. A week or so later, they sent me an email, to the correct address, asking for feedback on how they dealt with my complaint. Honestly, you couldn't make up such nonsense. What they did say was they wouldn't contact me anymore in respect of this account. Today I received an email telling me about charges on this account. Oh yes, what I forgot to mention earlier was that when I complained I told them how receiving messages about an account that is owned by someone who negatively impacted my mental wellbeing by taking my children from me only aggravates my mental health, mot to mentionthere is a GDPR breach. Just goes to show how Barclays couldn't care less about mental health.
