I had a foot operation in February which meant I was unable to put any weight on my foot for 6 weeks. The peg leg enabled me to get out and about at a time when otherwise I would have been very restricted. I am 74 and found the NHS crutches difficult to use due to not having sufficient upper body strength to support my weight over any distance. The peg leg was good around the house without extra support, outside I used a combination of peg leg with crutches for extra balance. This enabled me to take good walks around our home town of Poole in Dorset to the interest and amusement of all. Poole is notorious as a pirate town of old! After use I found a market for my peg leg on E-bay so hopefully it is continuing to give good service to someone else.
