I understand the BHF collectors need to examine donated items for safety compliance, condition etc. However, their list of what they will and will not accept does not make it clear that there are other checks that will be made. I had garden furniture rejected because it was plastic and the collectors told me they only accept metal furniture. My 18-month-old Fridge Freezer was rejected because I was told the corner of a door seal could be pulled away from the door and was coming unglued. The door seals were all a push fit and if pulled will come off! A chest of drawers that was approximately 60 years old, in good condition and never repaired was rejected because the drawers were considered to be too weak to hold anything safely! My dining room table would also have been rejected as it still had legs when the BHF collectors arrived and told me they only take tables if the legs have been removed. Fortunately, I was able to remove them!
Several times the collectors commented that their store already has too many sofas, chairs, beds etc giving the impression BHF do not really want donated furniture currently.
A very disappointing experience but fortunately others were keen to take all the items they rejected.
