I think it is a well-designed user friendly approach.
It required my attention - and actually ensured I understood and absorbed the information. While it was lengthy to complete the modules, and complete and pass the sample tests, I felt I was very prepared for the final test and felt confident completing the course.
I know feel much more prepared and confident to go out on the water. Worth the time.
