Most of the time, my experience with Booking.com has been great. However, I was frauded on August 7, 2025. On Thursday, August 7 between 12:00 PM and 12:45 PM, I tried to make a single ticket purchase for Guided Tour of the Palace of Versailles on Booking.com. Each time I tried to make a purchase, the website said that my payment was not accepted. I tried about 10 times. After each try, I checked my email as booking.com confirmations are sent immediately. There were no emails. However, at around 2:00 PM, I checked my email for a different reason and there were two bookings made at 1:54 PM French time. I checked my card and there were two charges made. I only wanted one so I accepted one and cancelled the other which I did not authorize. I let Booking.com know that they made a mistake because they never accepted my payment and I only wanted one. However, Booking.com refused to refund payment even though they acknowledged that they were wrong, because they said refunds were only given prior to Aug. 7 at 2:00 PM. Therefore I consider this to be fraud as I never authorized either of the transactions in the first place and I definitely did not require the second transaction in the first place.
