I was looking for a wood stove with a glass door. I'd been using wood heaters for years, and while they were great for keeping the house warm, but I really wanted to be able to see the fire. So when I came across this stove online, I knew it was perfect. I was a little hesitant to purchase the Drolet Escape 1800 wood stove, but after reading the great reviews I decided to go for it. I'm so glad I did! It is an airtight stove, so you have to be sure to get the fire going well before you close the door. It does have an air intake rod below the door to let more air in while you're getting things going. The wood ash drawer under the firebox is a big plus too. You can easily push the ashes down there by lifting a small cast metal door up, at the front of the firebox. This is a quality stove that has really heated up my home this winter. The even heat it gives off is perfect for keeping my home warm all winter long. The best part is that it's so easy to use, and it comes crated for shipping so there's no worry about damage. I would definitely recommend Drolet stove to anyone looking for a quality wood stove.
