I live in France and recently purchased some clothes from Brook Taverner. The clothes arrived and they were too small so at my own expense (€25)I returned them to Brook Taverner. Initially they refused to refund the VAT I had paid and then when I objected, they did. I then received a bill for €150 from DHL for import duties. I have forwarded this to Brook Taverner and they have said that it’s not their problem even though the Export Regulations clearly state that no duty is payable on returned goods. The end result is that it has cost me €175 to get absolutely nothing and Brook Taverner have received back and no doubt resold the clothes.
