I went to Calumet because I couldn't find what I needed whilst in a major photographic store in the centre of Birmingham. Whilst I was in the store an unknown stranger spoke to me, (you may not believe this, but I know it's true), he said "you're in the wrong shop". He said "you need to go to Calumet". He then advised me of its location and gave me directions. The only words I spoke were "Ok", He said "see yah" and left the store. I thought the incident odd but decided to take his advice. I wasn't disappointed. I was soon in the Calumet store on the Hagley Road and received a friendly welcome. I was allowed to browse the store uninterrupted until I needed assistance. A very friendly lady asked me if I needed any help and I replied that "yes" I was ready to ask. No sooner had I described what I was looking for (a Manfrotto goose neck) than it was in my hand. Brilliant, no miss-understanding, no vagueness, straight on the job and in my hand. Most sales assistants in my experience know less than me when I ask them for advice, but not here . This was corroborated when I asked about Micro Secure Digital cards and their adapters, The lady knew her stuff. At the sales counter I was just about done and their phone rang, it was right next to us, so since I had all but finished I said "you can get that if you like", thinking I didn't want them to lose a sale since they had been so helpful and courteous. "No", she said, "I wouldn't do that to you", amazing, my experience of sales staff is less than customer friendly, but again not here! So I got what I was looking for, I got a very friendly welcome, and I didn't feel pressurised to buy anything. Oh! and the price of the gooseneck was very competitive too. Thank you to all in the store, for me, that was a win- win - win day.
