My son and I drove an hour to see a Ford Escape he had found online that was a 2007 with supposedly 77,000 miles in it. We test drove the car and my son was ready to buy the car but I thought the car looked pretty rough for a car with those miles. After talking with my son we decided to run a car fax report and asked the owner if we could take a picture of the vin # so should could run a Carfax report. He said "sure,I guess so." So we went back to our car and using the ipad, signed up for the unlimited carfax account and ran it. It turned out that the car had mileage of at least 177,000 miles. There were several mileage readings that were well above what the odometer reading showed. The seller shortly knocked on the window to inquire what we found. We showed him the report and he claimed that was news to him. I have no idea if he really knew the mileage but I do know that Carfax saved my son from a costly mistake. Mike in Illinois
