My wife and I need a second car to make trips to Illinois to visit our sisters who have Muscular Dystrophy. We were looking for a Ford Escape within our price range, but have had no luck finding one. So, we looked at a Kia, which was for sale by an individual. It has 63,000 miles on it, and is very clean. The owner told us he bought it from an elderly lady in Grain Valley, Missouri, and that he thought she was the only owner of it. He bought the car a mere three months prior to us looking at it. We drove it and found it to be a bit tight as far as arm room, but it drove quite nicely. The owner said he had put almost $1,800.00 in repairs in it, and new tires on the car. He refused to look my wife in the eye anytime she asked him questions. She got suspicious of what he was telling us, so we came home and did a Carfax on the car. She was right about her intuitions. The car, at 63,000 miles had had SIX OWNERS! We still need a vehicle to make trips to and from Illinois so we can help care for our sisters, but are reluctant to move forward with a purchase due to not trusting a dealer or individual after our experience with the owner of the Kia. What is so wrong with the Kia, that at 63,000 miles has had SIX owners? Are there trustworthy people to do business with when it comes to the purchase of a GOOD, low mileage vehicle? Carfax kept us from making a HUGE mistake. Thank you, for the job you do helping the consumer!! :)
