Well, carfax helped me to stay away from the vehicle in my story. I saw a vehicle an individual was selling, on the side if the road. They always have something out there for sale, so I thought I would stop. It had it's share of wear, but I wasn't worried, as it was gonna be something I expected to get possibly more dings, from the use I had planned. The price was negotiable, a little high for blue book value, but I wasn't worried. So I decided to do my research on it. Did a 1 time car fax report, it showed that it was in a wreck a couple months prior, and that it was 'totaled', and now had a salvage title. The current owner/seller tried telling me there was no issue, that it had a clean title, and even tried selling it to me for over the KBB value, if it wasn't salvaged. The report told me the value was basically negative what they were asking. Well needless to say, the seller ended our conversation on the phone very soon after I mentioned that I did do my research, and found out that they were frauds. Thanks CARFAX.
