Thanks to carfax, my 80 year old cousin did not make a huge mistake. She wanted to purchase a 2003 Buick Park Avenue from her mechanic in Walhala, SC, whom she trusted. Because I was her family advisor on major purchases, I asked her to send me the ViN number, which I then entered into Carfax. To my dismay, the car was "redflagged" as salvaged. I told her do NOT buy that car and inform this guy that he was no longer her mechanic, as he was a "low-scum" trying to take advantage of a senior citizen on a fixed income.
