I recently was looking at a 2008 Honda Civic to purchase for my daughter. I ran the VIN # through Carfax and to my surprise it had a shocking history of being stolen in late 2008 and recovered damaged and repaired. Then in 2012 the car was totaled by the insurance company due to a wreck that crushed the car and bent the frame beyond repair. The car ended up in a junk yard where this person bought it at salvage and rebuilt it with the intent to sale at a premium price to an unsuspecting person thinking it had no negative history. All I can say is thank God for Carfax. Without them I probably would have bought the car for my daughter. I will always be a Carfax user with any used car I am looking at.
