I was looking at purchasing a Buick from an owner and they told me it had never been in a wreck and only had a scrape on the side from someone in another car. The CarFax was run on it before I purchased it and indicated that not only did it have multiple owners and two auction releases, but that it was also involved in a side collision and totaled. After inspection of the car again with this information, the undercarriage did show that it had been bent and straightened out at some point with a lot of rusting in areas where the impact would have been. Not only did this save me from buying a car with a high price for the condition, it also prevented me from buying a car that could have been a serious safety concern for my family!
