I was in the middle of purchasing a new family vehicle that the owner had listed with less than 100k miles and stated that it had never been in any accidents. Just before giving him the money, I checked the CarFax and found out that it actually had over 200k miles on it and it had also been totaled 4 months ago by the guy selling it, who had also changed the odometer. Also, I saw that the license plate that was on the vehicle didn't even match up. Thank you CarFax, I dodged a bullet on this one!
