I was looking for a new car recently and i came across a seller on craigslist. He mentioned 120k miles on the car and was very confident about the car and firm on price and so i went on to see the car. The car looked good with no damages but as I always do and ask others to do and that is to run the CARFAX report. Once I ran the CARFAX report ,I found out that it mentioned 230k miles on the car. Trust me I was stunned and as soon as i told the seller i could see his expressions changing coz he realized that his fraud was caught and that he might be in trouble. He just wasted no time and vanished. CARFAX saved me quite a few trips to the so called sellers who claimed that they had a great vehicle but actually was not the case.I think the most important investment I made in buying my car was the money i paid to CARFAX for the membership.
