We were super excited about this bed (Hudson Poplar) based on the reviews and things we'd read online. First off, due to shipping, some of the pieces of the bed had splinters/chunks knocked out. No major aesthetic defects but enough that they were slightly damaged. We had very significant issues putting it together, which drastically affected my view of the product. Although the bed is made from poplar - a softer wood - it was nearly impossible to put the head/footboard together with the screws provided. The holes are not pre-drilled at all, and even pushing as hard as I possibly could with a corded power drill (and I'm a big dude), we stripped the screws completely, sending metal shavings everywhere. We managed to get most of them within 1cm of fully inserted, but it's definitely not as secure as it should be. This was super frustrating. Carolina leg co. called me after I submitted a service inquiry, but they weren't very helpful on the phone, only offering to send more screws, which really wouldn't help. Additionally, some of the slats nearly didn't fit the bed, and we had to bang them in with a mallet. Already worried about getting them out when we move. The bed definitely looks fine now, but I worry about its long-term stability and durability given the assembly process. Overall I wouldn't buy the bed again.
