The estimator's measurements alarmed the lead fitter, who treble-checked that there would be enough carpet, then laid the carpet out on the road to check that it was large enough. The fact that he asked me whether it was I who had furnished the measurements did not imbue me with confidence. In the end, he was satisfied that there would be enough carpet, and the team started on with the job, before alerting me to the fact that the removal of beading attached to the wall would leave marks as the beading had been glued. Had I known about this beforehand, I would have removed it myself then painted the skirting board prior to the laying of the carpet. Since Carpetright's text informing me of the estimator's arrival time contained the promise 'They will give you all the help you need', I am disappointed that he did not see fit to alert me to the beading issue. The fitters did not give me the option of choosing not to have the carpet laid until the glue had been removed. Now that I am in the process of trying to do it myself with arthritic hands, I have had to pull back the carpet, only to find it coming away in my hands. Complaints to Carpetright have not been followed up.
