I would recommend asking for Connor Barr to be your Sales Advisor if you are planning to buy a car from Peter Vardy CarStore. Connor has gone above and beyond to help me buy my new car, which I picked up 4 days ago and am absolutely loving so far.
When I first met Connor, I wasn't in the best frame of mind (nothing to do with Connor). I had come to the Hillington branch to find out about getting a specific car moved from their Perth site to the Hillington site. As it turned out, the car was no longer available despite the fact I had been told by the call centre team that it was. Connor very patiently offered to help me look for other similar spec cars within my budget - not an easy task since I was set on the Honda Civic Exec Model, which is a bit like finding a needle in a haystack.
I was convinced that Connor would not change my mind but he found me a very high spec model, within my budget and more or less ready to drive away. He organised a test drive for me and was patient with my endless questions and concerns (I haven't changed my car in 8 years and only ever owned 1 car, so was finding car buying quite stressful!). He even made the paperwork a less arduous task because he is actually just a genuinely nice and down-to-earth guy. It was refreshing to deal with such a friendly, switched-on and honest guy instead of the 'typical car salesman' approach.
When I picked my car up, my bank held up the process a bit but despite that the whole team were really patient and keen to help. Connor was continually trying to see what he could do to help or speed things up, Russell the Managing Partner was really helpful too as was the girl who was doing our actual handover.
We popped back the next day to drop off a gift and thank you card for Connor, which he seemed really touched by, but I am a big believer in good customer service and in my eyes Connor couldn't have done more to help me. He is a real credit to Peter Vardy.
Outside of the positive experience I had dealing with Connor, there are other pros about shopping in the CarStore:
- They seem to have a good range of competitively priced cars
- They will offer to move a car from one store to another for you
- Their Black Friday Bonanza offers a range of incentives and I imagine they run other events like this throughout the year to encourage you to buy
- It is an AMAZING place to go if you have kids. Buying a car can take a while but there's loads to keep kids occupied. We had a 7 year old with us who absolutely loved the soft play area and the air hockey and the free ice cream
- If you like old school dance music, you are in luck. A lot of Ian Van Dahl and Concrete Angel to keep you motivated :-)
- They do a 'Big Reveal' when you pick your car up so you get to push a red button, take the cover off your car all to Katy Perry's Firework (maybe a bit cheesy for some of you but again great if you have kids)
- They seem to run community days a few times a year - when we popped back on Sunday to drop the gift in, there was a hog roast, a bouncy castle, face painting and more. Nice that they take the time to do that kind of thing
My negative comments (you can't say I am not thorough) would be:
- You get offered free tea and coffee but need to pay for your soft drinks. It's not about the price it's the principle. Peter - we are buying thousands of pounds worth of car, maybe throw in a wee can of diet coke for free, eh?!
- The call centre staff could be a wee bit more helpful - don't tell someone a car is available if it isn't (this could be to do with slow system updating)
That said, I still give my overall experience a 5 - in large part due to Connor - and I would return to Peter Vardy again in the future.
