After trying out a few digital marketing agencies and being let down, I had hoped Chappell Digital Marketing would be different. I had seen the great ROAs that Chase Chappell has been sharing on his TikTok account and thought I would give them a try.
After a profitable first half of the year, we hoped to continue this momentum and increase profitability with our Facebook ad results. Since hiring the Chappell Digital marketing agency, our results have dropped significantly.
What was worse was how much we were paying the agency, which was $5k+ per month. (A flat fee + a % of ad spend) I hoped that for such a significant monthly retainer, we would have seen better results, but the poor results + the high monthly fees resulted in our most considerable losses yet. I guess I am a bit bummed out that we had made money all year which has now been lost after hiring Chappel Digital Marketing.
I am sure Chase Chappel and his team can get results for other clients but not us. I would be cautious and not be fooled by the great ROAs shown all over TikTok as this will most likely be for their top-performing brands but not all of them.
After handing in our 30-day notice, I made arrangements to take our media buying in-house and began the contract with a freelancer. The end date had been confirmed by the agency so I scheduled our freelancer to start on the end date in which I was initially told. I guess my mistake partly, but I did not realize that at the start of the month, I paid the management fee until the end of the month for Chappell Digital Marketing. (I guess they should have mentioned that they scheduled our end date to be a few days after the invoice was paid for the next month of services). Once I brought this to their attention, they did offer to continue the media buying until the end date. Still, given my circumstances, I did not take them up on this offer and was refused the partial refund for which I had paid management for and did not receive.
All in all, it was a negative experience, but the one positive thing is their communication is always prompt, which isn't so common with agencies these days.
