I recently ordered a ballerina dress, for my daughters christening which when arrived, wasn't suitable and we didn't feel it looked the same as the website, especially in quality. When we returned it, it was sent back to us with the explanation that 'this item cannot be returned as is a back order as stated on the website'. When i looked at the 'returns' section on the website it clearly states that the item can be returned. (see attached childsplay returns) I spoke to customer service they told me that this essential information about returns is not in the 'returns' section! WHAT!? Apparently you have to click on the 'description' arrow (see attached childsplay description) which open up the not returnable info. This is misleading, and totally contradictory, returns info should be in the return info section, If you don't click the arrow to read the description you won't know this information and who even reads the description when you can see what it is. I certainly don't. I wouldn't have bought this dress if i though it couldn't be returned and now my daughter is without a dress for her christening as we cannot afford to buy two. Really upset about this.
customer service replied When you click on the Sarah Louise item you have purchased the description is section is always open.
On all items where description is available, this will automatically be the first section open – you will not need to press the arrow down – as the refund section has been done in the screenshot.
We have this wrote in the description section as it’s always the section opened and it’s the most visible place for us to put this, and where the customer can see it before ordering.
HOWEVER THIS IS NOT APPLICABLE IF
when you click the returns tag the description tag closes, (please see for yourself) I went to the returns section directly to see if t was returnable and in that section it clearly states that it is . If you do not read the description you will NOT see the non return info. if you ckick ont he returns info you will not see the description If you do not want this confuson you should state that you can not return it in the return sections. Also it should be in bold or at least always visible. I am going to take this up with the trading commission who i hope will get you to at least ammend your website so that you do not do this to another poor family.
