I ordered a Beretta Mdl 81 from Classic Firearms on February 4th. In my Classic Firearms' order confirmation, the following was noted: "If you chose a Preferred Dealer or any other highlighted dealer from our drop-down list when you placed your order, then we already have their license on-file." That was confirmed verbally with the sales agent for Classic Firearms prior to ordering my Mdl 81 and specifically for the FFL I had chosen. Unfortunately, the FFL I had selected had notified Classic Firearms about 6 months earlier that they no longer were an FFL; however, Classic Firearms neglected to update their files. Needless to say, the pistol was delivered to the address that Classic Firearms had approved, was then immediately refused by the non-FFL dealer, sent back to Classic Firearms, and subsequently has not been verified as returned by Classic Firearms ... add to that the additional return shipping and restocking fee that Classic Firearms wants to charge and you have a very poor showing on the part of Classic Firearms and a very black mark on an otherwise reputable firearms vendor. I spoke to the representative of Classic Firearms about this issue and was told that it was my problem that the FFL was no longer active. True, it is my problem now but a problem that Classic Firearms promulgated. Given this recent history, and although I believe that Classic Firearms is a reputable dealer, I would no longer recommend that anyone order from Classic Firearms.
