This review is based upon my experience of the Clearly Filtered pitcher throughout the use of one filter.
For clarity from the outset, I wish to point out that all aspects of purchase inc packaging and delivery, communications and product in regards to build, design and water taste were all excellent.
I think it would also be prudent to state I am the owner and sole user of the pitcher/filter.
A 36yr old male, active in both occupation and leisure pursuits. Really one of those guys that has a 1.5Lt(.8Gallon/12cups if I have converted correctly)Nalgene water bottle strapped to me wherever I go. Being that I don’t drink alcohol, carbonated beverages or juices, I get my fill of the h2o. I suspect on average, I would drink 1-2 of these containers, most days.
Having initially invested in the unit after some careful deliberation, it arrived and worked very well for a short period. The water, after having primed the filter, ran smoothly in maybe 5-8minutes p/upper reservoir fill.
This however changed, quickly. Within weeks, I was concerned I had maybe caught a dud with the flow rate down to maybe 20mins. I thought another prime was needed. This did indeed help the flow for a short while.
To save the nauseating story of my block/prime/re-fill process, I think you can see where we are going.
After less than 3 months my filter would not pass water, period.
Having contacted customer services, I had the pleasure of chatting to Mina. She kindly pointed out that if I had been filling the reservoir twice a day, it was possible that the filter may only last circa-3 months. If on occasions, as I did, fill a third time(boiling, soaking etc), maybe closer to 2.
Wow. So simply to meet my personal water requirements, I was looking down the barrel of apx £25 p/month charge (assuming I purchased 6 filter packs, each lasting 2.5 months on average) Unbelievable. In the 21st century what individual can swallow such a cost?! Sadly, I can’t and I feel truly. A single guy, whom works full-time without dependants. I buy organic, wholefood/natural products wherever can, yet good clean drinking water is out of my reach.
I do not blame C.F for my situation. More embarrassed I naively viewed the FAQ’s page etc and thought if it states ‘4-6months’ for individuals, surely I wasn’t going to be that far out...right?! Wrong.
I now have an empty pitcher awaiting listing on a second had platform. How sad. I shall get back to the saving and invest in the counter top filtration system from another well-known brand I have since become acquainted with.
Please acknowledge both your own water usage and the claims made by Clearly Filtered people. I would hate anyone to end up taking the financial hit I have in these times. None of us can afford that. If you are happy with those rates, it’s an excellent product, but either way, it does come at a price.
