I’ve spent close to a billion euros on presets. I must have gotten a heavy fall as a child. All in trying to find my own voice with my images. From Mastin Labs, RNI, Alex on Raw, Classic Presets, the Capture One styles, Filter Grade and many more. The Cobalt styles in Capture One are by far the best. I don’t know what species of voodoo is being used but my guess is the ICC Profiles. Other presets are a layer on top of your image but they don’t always sink into it. The ICC Profiles from Cobalt looks like the presets are embedded into the image. As if the image was shot in camera. And the different tone profiles are fun to work with as well. The Leica M presets are great but I think the Leica CCD are my favourite. I use them most of the time. I also own the Cobalt Kodachrome, Kodak Original, Kodak Elite and the Classic B&W Elite. I often choose a Cobalt look for my image, add a tone curve and I’m pretty much done. Cobalt are doing brilliant work and definitely have their hand on the pulse with digital imaging. I look forward to what the future brings.
