Gillian Woolfson
My fasting BG has always been up in the 8/9s but this morning was 5.2 and all my readings have come down considerable and are all within what my meter tells me is the acceptable range. I have never seen a doctor for my diabetes except the I went to see one privately, at considerable expense, but he pooh-poohed everything I suggested that I'd read about, including the Newcastle diet, which was very new at that time and kept telling me he had been a consultant for 40 year. Don't know what he'd say about Curling. I saw a different diabetic nurse for my annual check-up last January and, because my Hba1c had gone up from 56 in 2018 to 59 this year, she asked me to have another test done at the end of April and I see my original nurse on Friday. The test that gave the 59 result was fasting and this was the first time I'd been told to have a fasting test but was told this should make no difference. My before meal results are in the 4.1-4.4 range at the moment and were much higher and sometimes as high as 7/8. I have had a few occasions when I've started to sweat and go wobbly and am thinking of cutting down my morning dose of Metformin from 1500 to 1000, but will wait to see my results on Friday. One thing though that is troubling me is that my weight has crept up a couple of pounds even though, for a couple of weeks when my husband was away, I was eating very much less than normal and am still eating less without losing anything. Is this to be expected?
