My husband was bought a £50 jumper as a Xmas present from a relative. This relative lives in Malaysia and was visiting for the Xmas period returning home shortly afterwards. The jumper was too small and was returned to the store. Although we did not have the receipt (it was a gift, who gives receipts?) we did expect to be able to change the jumper for a bigger size but was informed, as we did not have proof of purchase, they could only offer an exchange to the value of £16.
Where in Debenhams would you get a jumper for £16? Plus why would a garment purchased from Debenhams lose its value in such a short time?
I contacted the complaints department to be told that as I did not have proof of purchase the desicion by that store, Debenhams in Meadowhall stands.
Compare their policies to any other store in town who are prepared to allow an exchange to the value of goods bought.
Please be aware of this situation. I for one will not be patronising this store again
