Till this day, October 7, 2021, I am still living in a nightmare. I have read the comments and honestly please do not take this the wrong way, but for those of you whose contract was cancelled-you escaped a nightmare. Of course I pray that you are able to get your money back and find a home. My nightmare started in August 2019. I was pregnant with my last son and was looking forward to bringing him to our new home once he was born. That was delayed so we stayed in a hotel for a week. When we finally closed we had to do a final walk through then. Was repeatedly told, “don’t worry everything is fine, you have your warranty, or we had an engineer come out and evaluate everything. (Lie #1, 2, and #3) Now imagine, December 31 and you just said “Happy New Year” now you hearing and seeing water dripping from your ceiling. Reported the issue. They came out and inspected and couldn’t find what was causing the issue. Then they had their plumber (subcontractor) come out. They had to dig through our foundation. While doing so, I was continually told or asked, either I put too many feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, or my children put toys down the toilet. Surprisingly, they found a plastic water bottle and concrete (a big rock) in our foundation. When asked about they found, they said baby wipes and hygiene products. (Lie #4, Lie #5) so they sent me a pic of bunched up tissue and Tom ran out of the house with the evidence. (Deception #1, 2) my insurance company was ignored (phone calls, emails, letters) for over a year and half and was basically told to take them to court. Months later, we experienced more water damage. This time, the water damage was in the laundry room. They did not properly connect the water line that connects to the washing machine. So all that time water was constantly dripping. The repairman told us to make sure that we request to have them come and replace the installation and to ensure no further water damage. They never sent anyone to assess to see if any water damage had occurred. (Deception #3) Can you imagine the water damage occurred behind the wall after doing laundry for 7-8 months? Now we are experiencing a slight lean in home on the back right side, a bowed wall that is starting to crack horizontally. You know what I was told, “the house is finally shifting and a wall is not going to be a perfect square”. SMH I have a hearth that has over a half inch gap between the floor and the hearth. I explained that the pictures are not going to show the damages because I can’t get the right angle due to them placing a trim around the hearth. I have submitted warranty request after warranty request. Only to either be denied, other companies blamed for their mishaps, lack of responsibility or accountability. Problem #1-if you purchase a home from Eastwood, you submit a warranty request online. You do not receive confirmation of submitting the request. So it’s their word against yours. I have told them they need a control in place because this is a risk that could potentially lead into an issue. Ginger receives all the warranty requests and is overworked. However, how can she say my requests have been completed and you never came to assess the damage. Then when the pandemic hit, of course we understand you have to wait or halting going in homes. But don’t say my requests are complete because either it’s lost, you didn’t feel the need to assess, or you are back logged and don’t take your buyers seriously when they have a warranty request. All of my requests are not complete. This was a home I had looked forward to passing down to my children. Now all I can think about is determining if it is even worth it to leave behind. Please when you purchase your home, before you sign on the dotted line with Eastwood Homes-make sure all repairs are done before you sign. Of course you can’t foresee concrete or a plastic water bottle in your pipes, but you can save yourself from a nightmare.
