I hired a car via Booking Group from Alpha at Melbourne airport. The car is was given is too underpowered for my purpose. So I asked Alpha for an upgrade to a more powerful car and they told me that I would loose the remainder of my fee (800 Ausralian dollars/400 or so pounds) and would have to start again. I then contacted Booking who told me that the upgrade would have had to be made at least 48 hours before I picked up the car. My complaints about how Alpha shuffled my call from person to person before hanging up on me altogether weren't even referred to. The nonsense about the 48 hour period is nonsense illogical and impossible to. I have hired many cars all over the world over the years and this is the 1st time I have ever heard if such Pontius Pilate nonsense. Despite their claim that customer support is a priority for them in practice they simply can't be bothered.
