Emailed Enhance as I’ve had previous breast surgery where I had issues afterwards and I asked them if it was worth me booking a consultation as I knew I was a difficult case and did not want to travel two hours away for it to be a wasted journey. They got back to me inviting me for a consultation so I assumed this had been discussed a little with a surgeon and he’d said it potentially doable and to bring me in. Leading up to my appointment I had a phone call twice where I had to explain myself all over again (thought this was a little odd as I already had done this) but went along with it anyway. On the day of the appointment I arrived in clinic and once again was asked for my details and had to explain everything again. Then the surgeon called me in ‘Adriano Seno’. From the minute I sat down infront of him I knew this man was rude, he did not speak at all to me and his opening line was ‘how big do you want to go’. I said I have not really thought this far yet as I knew I was difficult. He then interrupted and said what size was I now. I told him my size and he said ok so one size bigger. He then looked in my notes and I’d put that I smoked as I am a social smoker (very rarely), but when I had gone into the room with the lady prior to him she crossed yes off and wrote ‘social smoker’. He asked if I smoked and I said well I put yes but your colleague has crossed off as a social smoker, he then started chuckling and said well no you smoke then don’t you social or not you’re a smoker. I found this and him very patronising - I am a registered UK nurse and I have never been spoken to like this by various multidisciplinary teams. I then said to him have you read my notes at all and he looked at the front of the booklet where his colleague had written my notes on and laughed again and said ‘I cannot read this’ and slammed the book down. He then said ok go there and take your bra off. I at this point was feeling like walking out but thought as I’d travelled so far I wanted to see if anything could be done. As soon as he looked at me he threw his hands in the air and made several disgusted faces at me without actually looking at me once. He continued to do this whilst measuring around my breasts and throughout the entire time my bra was off. I felt like I was in a school playground and he made me feel like an absolute ogre. The reason I had plucked up the courage to go for this appointment was because I have suffered for years with low confidence due to my previous surgery and he has absolute shattered whatever I had left which was already so minimal. I am disgusted with the way this man treated me and cannot believe that people pay their hard earned money to a man that talks to anyone with this manner. I cried infront of him because of how he made me feel and not once did he try to ask if I was OK or show the slightest bit of sympathy. When I came out of the room the colleague that had seen me before spoke with me and said she would ask another surgeon to see me and she would get back to me, I have not heard anything from them since my appointment. I honestly can’t believe this company have such great reviews online which I had looked at prior to emailing, the way I was treated as a healthcare professional myself within NHS - not even private! I am absolutely still in shock. Thank you Enhance for batting a woman down even further than she already was. Funny because prior to the appointment there is a section to complete about your mental health… they obviously take note of it!
