In mid July I took my grandson on his annual treat from Hull for day in London. We travelled first class for extra service and comfort. Our outward journey was excellent and arrived into King's Cross on time. When we returned to King's Cross at the end of the day, having visited the Houses of Parliament and the new Wembley stadium, we found that our return Hull Train had been cancelled. We were re-routed on an East Coast train to Doncaster and then a Northern Train to Hull. We arrived later than anticipated but more importantly, the standard of service from both companies was not up to that of Hull Trains. When I contacted Hull Trains about this they were prompt and sympathetic in their reply. They refunded the total cost of our return journey. I was very impressed and pleased by their high standard of customer service and their desire to make amends. We will have no hesitation returning again in 2016.
