I found the First-Tutors website excellent. There was a wide range of teachers to choose from, and good amount of information about each. After placing a couple of enquiries I quickly received responses (within a couple of hours) from 2 teachers in my area, and was able to get further information from them (e.g. their location, and available time slots) and within a short while I had arranged the time of my first lesson, with one of them. My only small criticism of the website is that when you send mail from the site, it does not tell you that it has been sent. So the first time I mailed, I didn't think the mail had gone, and I ended up sending it twice. Just a momentary message to say "Message Sent to XYZ" would be helpful!
