The only thing good I can say about this is that I was in deed able to have custom made floaties produced.
The prices are EXTREMELY high for small quantities- and when I say EXTREMELY I mean $1000usd for 5 average sized floaties. (plus expediting freight from China at $150 which I didn't need but wasn't offered an alternative).
The staff did a nice job converting the file I sent them over to their vinyl cutting software and made the approrpriate changes I requested in the design. That part was good.
They were very high pressure, requesting feed back and a PO as soon as the design was completed, which I find completely annoying considering the amount of money being spent and needing further approval in a business setting.
One request made was for a sample of the vinyl used, thinking for $1000usd this ought to be some seriously heavy vinyl. Wrong...All I asked for was a small piece of vinyl, throw in an envelope and send it to me. They said it really couldn't be done, but upon insisting, they offered to send a scrap floatie from previous job for $150. NO thanks...
Upon final order and production, it was indeed fast maybe a week total between paying the deposit and production starting, paying the final amount due +shipping it was speedy.
I received the floaties via DHL from China or somewhere, packaged well. I opened and saw the vinyl and its no more quality than your average pool toy you buy at Walmart. Disappointing considering this was EXACTLY what I discussed with them before ordering. They assured me they were of the highest quality, .28mm here's the text:
2. And second question, given the high prices, what kind of quality PVC are we talking about here? I expect that these would be extremely heavy-duty mil vinyl and not just some cheap pool toy.
The PVC we use is an extremely high-quality material, the thickness of it will depend on the purpose of use you're thinking of, but the ones I shared the costs with you it's for the standard one 0.28mm which is higher than our competitors. It'll definitely not be a cheap pool toy.
WELL it is a cheap pool toy, down to the cheap plastic bite valves you use to inflate them. HOWEVER, they did send a free AC powered inflator (china special) with the order- so my compliments to them for that. (it'll probably rupture the seams when I use them to inflate).
I hope I have a job after the team sees these at our next event, spending $1000usd for 5 floaties was a risk, and while I hold out for hope that they last through the entire event, at least I'll be able to get drunk in the pool until my floatie sinks and waters down my cocktail.
