I am currently in the process of choosing flooring for the upstairs in my home. Through this process, I have collected 16 samples from many different manufacturers. All the samples are of the highest quality offered by each manufacturer. The Basalt sample seems to be noticeably stiffer (good for bridging defects in sub-floor) than the other LVP samples I have. I am very concerned with scratches, so I use a knife and scratch every sample I get. This gives me an idea of what it will look like when it does scratch and a "feel" of how hard it is to scratch in the first place. I will say the basalt was considerably more difficult to scratch. It is harder than any of the other samples I have. It did scratch, but it was more like scratching porcelain tile (not that hard.. but way closer than the rest). I also noticed the matte finish and soft pattern did not show the scratch nearly as well as the other samples. This is defiantly a different product and is my choice for my project.
