I went to gadgetgone to sell my OnePlus open. I got the insurance and expedited processing for a total of $32.00 out of my original payment of $741. Which would end up leaving me $709.00. Upon attempting to ship my phone, USPS informed me that they could not ship my phone due to safety restrictions on lithium-ion batteries. GadgetGone provided inadequate shipping labels, leaving me to pay an additional $25.00, on top of the $32.00 I already paid. There is no phone contact with the company, AT ALL! So if you have a question or concern then you have to email them or use the support tab on the website which is a form of texting. It's weird that they have a number for texting but not for calling. The emails aren't quick either. I live in California and the company is in Arizona. I would email them in the morning and wouldn't receive a response until late at night. I found it strange that a company who's business hours are from 9:00AM to 5:00PM MST would text me and email me at around 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. I informed them of the change in shipping and I also sent them pictures of what my phone looked like on and off, a day before I sent it in through the mail. Keep in mind I had bubble wrapping and a a soft shammy cloth to wrap the phone up. Unbeknownst to gadgetgone, I had just got my phone serviced by OnePlus themselves. I had the screens replaced. So the phone was in immaculate condition. Keep that in mind! I mailed my phone in Wednesday afternoon and my phone showed up to their company on Friday at 11:18am. I was expecting them to email me confirmation that they received my phone and that they were inspecting it, and sending me my payment that day. Because that's what I paid for, right? I emailed them and texted them numerous times and got no clear response. I had simple questions like "did you receive my phone" and they would reply with these long drawn-out emails saying "Yes, according to the tracking number it has been received." You see what they did there? They didn't say "yes we have your phone and we are processing right now." There was no real confirmation. In fact, every email is a weird way of answering a question without answering the question. Most of it is just copy and paste of whatever is on the websites Q&A. Think of it like talking to a lawyer or HR. They're just emailing and texting in a way that covers them. It's just to protect themselves, not to help you. Now I'm worried! did I just get scammed? Is this a real company? Have they been paying for good reviews this whole time? Monday comes around and I finally get solid confirmation that they have received my phone and that they were doing the "expedited processing". About a couple hours later I receive their evaluation of my device and the new payout... How much was that new payout? $627. I went from $741 to $627. Their excuse for the drop in pay? Scratched screens! That's right! The phone I had refurbished from OnePlus and had the screens replaced and then gently placed into a bubble wrapped packaging with a soft shammy cloth wrapped around it had "Moderate Scratching: This device has average, noticeable scratching on the screen." THATS WHAT THEY SAID! Furious and tired of dealing with the company I just took the money. Keep in mind, my phone got there on Friday November 8th 2024 at 11:18am. Now for a company that has business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., why wasn't my order processed on Friday? On Monday I got the confirmation email that they received my phone at 1:08 p.m. they did "their inspection", emailed me, and sent me my payment by 3pm my time. Why couldn't they have done this on Friday when they had more than enough time? As far as payment goes I went with the PayPal option. The PayPal option has a fee so they took out $18.75. so let's do the math. I was offered $741 for my phone initially. By the end of all of this I got $608.25. $132.75 gone. Could I have backed out of this deal at any time? Yes. Did anybody put a gun to my head to take the deal? No. But did gadgetgone show good business ethics or a show of good faith in reimbursing me the money I had spent on their so-called guarantee Express shipping/expedited processing? No. They lied to me about my phone that was professionally refurbished and sent with care just so they can scam me out of $132.75 I know this is a lot to read but please, do yourself a favor and go with somebody else. Their guarantees don't mean anything and their business practices are predatory at best.
