We’ve had our buildings insurance with Bradford and Bingley for over 4 years and always thought of them as a reliable company. We were paying £31.46 a month and were perfectly happy. In January 2025, a payment of £145 came out of our account for B&B. We assumed this was for the year and had a reduction due to having no claims. Fast forward to February 2025 and the same amount came out. So we called them immediately and were told that was our new monthly payment. We couldn’t believe it!!! They said we’d been sent a letter in December, less than a week before Christmas day. We never received this. They also said that it was on their portal about the increase. We didn’t know they had a portal!!! We eventually found the bit about the increase, which was on page four of a very long document, hidden away. We were in total shock. Why hide something so important? Having spoken to them, they didn’t care about our problem and were told that the increase was due to them getting new insurers, not our problem. Will never use them again as we feel this is verging on criminal negligence.
