I recently had a cancer diagnosis and wanted to check the policy I had paid into for 9 years for the security of my son and husband on my death, was all up to date, when I phoned they told me the policy had lapsed in January. My husband also has a policy and when we moved 4 years ago he didn't change the address on mine only his, so any correspondence was going to an old address, however after my husband suffered from mental illness last year, he had taken his eye off the ball and missed a direct debit legal and general said they emailed him regarding this, it had gone to spam? I recently escalated this as a complaint as they are refusing to reinstate the policy. All it would have taken was a phone call from one of their team members to check if we wanted to continue with the policy, after 9 years of payments! Apparently they don't do outbound calls, I'm in disbelief and can't believe how uncaring they are in people's time of need. They said they would possibly reinstate my policy after completing a clean health check, after me telling them I've been diagnosed with bone cancer, laughable! They repeatedly said it was our fault as we didn't change the address in the policy which I get but at least try and contact us a different way, disgusting! 9 years of our hard earned money paid into this company and we are left with nothing!
