Paws and Claws continue to send me advertisement emails and won't put to rest the terrible time I had when I took my pigeon to them. Here is the short story: Time back I took a white male pigeon that had suffered an accident which caused his throat to be cut. The deep puncture was making it difficult for him to breath and was losing blood. An emergency case, the cut needed to be sewn. I took the bird to Paws and Claws with what I had on me at the time $200. I got there and the assistant took the bird, put him in the oxygen chamber and came back after a while. She told me he needed surgery and the cost was $700. I told her I would give her the $200 and come back with the rest when the bird was ready to go. Dr. de. Armas refused to accept. After a back and forth plea with the assistance and a personal plea to Mr. de. Armas the bird was taken off the oxygen chamber and handed back to me under a total refusal from Mr. de. Armas to save him. The bird died later on that night under an agonizing episode of lack of oxygen which sounded like an acute asthma attack. I could only find another vet that would treat him in Ft/ Lauderdale but he was closed for that day and I didnt get the chance to get the bird there the next day. Is this scenerial that of a man who is supposed to help animals in distress, or is this the action of a businessman where money comes first and the life of an animal later. Think about this before you trust him with your pet.
