I recently had to claim for a “white van man” hit and run whilst my car was parked without me in it. Fortunately, a witness saw what happened and even chased the van up the road and confronted the driver. His response was that he’d only clipped the drivers wing mirror (he’d torn it off) and didn’t do any more damage (he’d caused considerable damage to the paintwork). I guess I was lucky I had a witness, but from start to finish the claim went smoothly and all was resolved in just over 2 months (including the repayment of my excess).
